8 Ways to MOVE with Family at the 2022 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend of Events
Set big goals and accomplish them together
Race weekend is a lot more fun when others join you, so why not challenge a loved one to run with you? Even if you choose different events to run, you will all cross the same finish line and earn the title Runner of STEEL.
Run with the kids at Family Day
Saturday, April 30 is family day at the 2022 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, and there’s something for every kid in your life —including your furbabies! You and your family can choose from the UPMC Health Plan / UPMC Sports Medicine Pittsburgh 5K Run (3.1 miles), Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon (1 mile), Sheetz Pittsburgh Toddler Trot or the Pittsburgh Pet Walk (1 mile).
Work together to run 26.2 miles
Your family can tackle the DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon course together! The FedEx Pittsburgh Marathon Relay splits the 26.2 mile course into five legs of varying distances, ranging from 3.8 to 6.5 miles. Whether it’s your first start line or your fiftieth, the Marathon Relay welcomes any and all Runners of Steel.
Reunite with your family out-of-state
Race weekend is a perfect excuse to invite your out-of-town family to come back and run Pittsburgh. Plan a pre-race pasta dinner, pick your races and make reservations for your celebratory post-race brunch, and you are guaranteed to have the best family reunion ever.
Run the distance while making a difference
Want to honor a loved one? Or support a cause that’s important to your family? Run together as charity runners through the Run for a Reason Charity Program. There’s no better feeling than crossing the finish line and knowing that those miles counted for MORE!
Show your commitment to each other and your fitness goals
Research shows that couples who sweat together, stay together. Improve your relationship and achieve your fitness goals by training for an event with your partner. You’ll be so happy to cross the finish line together.
Make it a runcation
Grab your closest friends that are like family and plan a fun weekend getaway that will also earn you a medal and some bragging rights. What's a better way to see Pittsburgh than running through it?
And don’t forget to have your support crew on race day
Make sure your family shows up on race day with motivating signs and noisemakers to help you all the way to the finish line. Whether it’s your first race or 100th, you’ll love seeing your family on the course and at the finish line.
