STEEL Challenge vs. STEEL City Series
The STEEL Challenge takes place entirely over the 2026 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend of Events by completing both the 5K on Saturday and any Sunday event.
The STEEL City Series is a year-long challenge that includes: any event during the 2026 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend, any heat during America's Mile presented by VisitPITTSBURGH, and either event during the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler and 10k.

When registering for a Sunday event in Race Roster, you will have the option to register for the 5K as an add-on product. Please select the "STEEL Challenge - Add on the 5K Race" to register for both a Sunday event and for the 5K.
If you do not select this add on in the registration process, you will receive a coupon code for $5 off the 5K in your confirmation email. You can then visit Race Roster to register for the 5K separately. Be sure to use the discount code when doing so, as discounts are not retroactive.
If you are registered for the 5K on Saturday and a Sunday race with the same registration information for both races, you are automatically entered into the STEEL Challenge.
Yes, can you do both of these processes, but this type of transfer must be initiated on our end of the system. Please email info@p3r.org and we can assist you!
You will find a STEEL Challenge icon on your bib when you pick it up at the Pittsburgh Health and Fitness Expo (if the icon is missing from your bib, please visit the Runner Services booth before leaving the Expo). After completing your Sunday race, please visit the STEEL Challenge tent at the Finish Line Festival in Point State Park and show the STEEL Challenge icon on your bib to pick up your bonus medal.
