7 Ideas to Help You Become a Better Fundraiser

1. Utilize social media

If you use social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, etc), consider sharing your personal fundraising page to these platforms. It will help if you share some personal details about your story and what you are looking forward to as you start training to Run For A Reason.

2. Create a pledge challenge

Pledge campaigns are a great way to catch the attention of supporters for your personal fundraising. Ask for pledges in exchange for completing a specific challenge, such as running one mile for every hundred dollars donated while training.

3. Send a letter

In today’s modern age of email and the internet, there is something nice about receiving a handwritten letter from someone. Reach out to your donors by sending them a personalized letter explaining what you are fundraising for, why it is so important to you, and acknowledge how much you would appreciate their support.

4. Gift matching

Reach out to your employer and inquire about a corporate match program. Lots of companies offer these in different formats and could be something for your donors to look into at their jobs too.

5. Inspire your followers

Social content must be engaging, but also inspiring; motivate your followers. This can be achieved through the power of your storytelling, with videos and/or blog posts that offer additional details about your cause. Be raw and real because training isn’t always perfect, it’s about the journey to get there.

6. Make donors feel involved

People are more likely to become donors if they feel part of a community. An engaging social presence can strengthen the relationship with new followers and potential donors. Engage them in your social conversation, share your story and thank them for their continued support. It is a great way for everyone to feel a part of Marathon Weekend!

7. Get crafty

There are lots of affordable ways to drive donations with a little gift incentive. Craft a bracelet in your cause’s color to give out with each donation or bake treats in the kitchen to add as a thank you for the support.
