Initial Downtown road closures will begin on Friday, May 5 starting at 12:00 p.m. on the Boulevard of the Allies between Wood Street and Stanwix Street. This section of the Boulevard of the Allies will remain closed through Sunday.
For Saturday, May 6 events (Pittsburgh 5K and Kids Marathon), North Shore and Downtown road closures will start at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday and continue until 12:00 p.m.
For Sunday, May 7 events (Marathon, Half Marathon and Relay), Downtown road closures will start at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 7 and continue around the city through 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 7.

Please note, certain sections of the city will be completely closed off to traffic on race day. Anyone in these sections of the city that will need to leave during the race, should consider parking their car outside the area.
Re-open times indicated on the Road Closure Chart are an estimate ONLY. Streets will re-open on a rolling basis once they have been deemed cleared by city officials.

Track your favorite Runners Of Steel on race day with LIVE Athlete Updates sent as Facebook, Twitter or Text updates. Runners will be tracked at the following locations on the course:
- Relay Teams*: 4.4 Mile, 9.1 Mile, 13.1 Mile, 15.5 Mile, 20 Mile (*Please note, if you sign up to track one member of a Relay team, you will receive alerts for the entire Team, not just one person)

There is free tracking and cheer sending in the RaceJoy mobile app for DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon, FedEx Ground Pittsburgh Marathon Relay and UPMC Health Plan/UPMC Sports Medicine Pittsburgh 5K Run! Spectators, this app will allow you to follow your runners, add audio cheer clips, receive NearMe alerts and find your runners after the race with Meetup.
First, download the RaceJoy app on your Apple or Android device. Choose “All Races” and select “Pittsburgh Marathon.” Register as a participant or spectator. Note: Participants must be registered through the app to be eligible to be tracked.

Notice Congested Call Cell Conditions Expected
Highly congested cell conditions are expected at the START and FINISH areas of the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon. We suggest you wait to turn on your tracking until around Mile One, if you experience issues connecting. This will also help to preserve your battery since your phone will continue to try to make a connection when poor cell conditions exist.
