PITTSBURGH – Some things are just better together. Members of a running club or group know that running is definitely one of those things. It gets even better when you have the chance to earn medals together, celebrate a new personal record together and enjoy a memorable race weekend experience together. The Running Club Rally program offered through the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon allows you to do all of this and more!
Gather your fellow runners and make plans to visit Pittsburgh from May 4-6, 2018 for the 10th Anniversary of the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon. This very special race weekend will be filled with great celebrations and exciting programs, including a unique experience for members of running clubs and groups. Now in its third year, the Running Club Rally is a discount and perks program available to all running clubs and groups across the country.
“Pittsburgh’s race weekend has become one of the highlights of our year, so the Harrisburg Area Road Runners Club (HARRC) is already counting down until May 4, 2018,” said Jeff Paladina, a long-time HARRC member. “Pittsburgh puts on an exciting, well-organized race weekend that offers something for everyone – a full marathon, half marathon, relay and more.”
Just by registering your club or group, participating members will receive a discount on registration and an open invitation from Steel City Road Runners to join them for a run before race day. If you really “rally” and recruit 20 or more members to participate, each member will receive additional perks, including:
Entry to the start line VIP area, which includes private bathrooms.
Entry to the post-race hospitality tent featuring a catered lunch, massage and private bathrooms.
A chance to be featured on the Running Club Rally leaderboard on the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon website.
A special Running Club Rally commemorative item.
“Pittsburgh is not only one of the best places to travel but also one of the most affordable. When you add in the Running Club Rally discount and perks, it makes this series of races difficult for our club members to pass up,” Paladina said. “We brought around 120 runners to Pittsburgh in 2017 and are planning to bring even more in 2018.”
Paladina is one of 601 total runners that participated in the Running Club Rally program in 2017, up from 289 in its inaugural year in 2016. The HARRC is one of 48 running clubs and groups that have come from across the country – as far as Oregon and as close as West Virginia – to enjoy race weekend. P3R expects even greater involvement this year due to the 10th anniversary celebration, USATF Half Marathon Championships and exceptional Running Club Rally perks.
“Running Club Rally participants choose Pittsburgh not only for a distinctive race experience but also to enjoy all that Pittsburgh has to offer, including group outings to a Pittsburgh Pirates game or a Gateway Clipper cruise,” said Dee Stathis, Chief Operations Officer/Director of Marketing and Operations at P3R. “Even more, the community support for visiting runners is amazing. A local restaurant hosted a private dinner party for the HARRC last year, for example, and will close their doors again for the group in 2018.”
