The DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon and the Hall of Fame Committee announced today Herb Cratty, Jack Fultz, John Harwick (deceased) and Mindy Zattola as the 10th class of inductees to the Pittsburgh Marathon Hall of Fame. This class will be inducted during the DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events, May 4-6, 2018.
P3R announced today that the Run for a Reason Charity Program presented by Bank of America has surpassed $11 million in donations since its inception in 2009. More than 1,600 charity runners have already raised over $375,000 this year, and P3R expects a total of 3,000 will raise $1.5 million by the DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events.
While the course will look familiar, P3R is making another kind of change that will impact both returning and new runners. The full marathon course time limit will be increased from six to seven hours, and half-marathon participants will now have three and a half hours to complete the course.
The Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) presented a Zero Waste Excellence Award to Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon, Inc. (P3R) in recognition of their commitment to minimizing the amount of solid waste sent to area landfills during the 2017 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events. P3R was one of only three organizations to achieve a gold standard in the category.
P3R is pleased to announce new partnerships with Peoples Gas, Chick-fil-A, Wabtec, Bayer, Chipotle and Isaly's for the 2018 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon. In addition, existing partners GEICO and Barefoot Wine & Bubbly have expanded their activations by adding new race weekend experiences for participants. These deals will not only help to make our 10th Anniversary year the biggest celebration yet, but they also ensure race weekend will continue to thrive for years to come.
